Hello,

I obtained a KIM-1 as part of an estate. At first I thought it was Calculator kit but when I Googled the name I saw it was in fact a vintage computer. I understand it is colectable and I am very interested in selling it as I don't have any use for it.
From all appearances the box was first opened by me and all the contents are in the original condition from 36 years ago.

Be careful with it. I'm assuming that static electricity can damage it so don't walk across a rug with it or touch the chips with your hands.

That looks pretty mint, and also a bit rare with the blue computer cover (Mine didn't come with such a cover, but maybe the covers are less rare than I may think). The fact that the edge connector is original (that's what mine looked like), yet unsoldered hints that this board is likely unused. You had to solder wires to the connector just to get power, much less anything else like the tape or teletype.

Shame the original manuals aren't with it (at least not in the photos). That would have made a nice complete set.

Can't say I recall the box being that color, mine was white as I recall. But that's a nit, wouldn't suggest as a challenge to its provenance. Could be a different box because it came with the cover, or simply they were out of white ones and the new lot used brown ones. It's a box.

Amen to that. chips like the 6530 are essentially unobtanium.

Wow that KIM looks really good.

I have a number of PETs, and my PET collection is essentially complete (no chicklet version, but most of the others, and I can live with that), but I did think about getting a KIM-1

I even thought about getting the KIM replica, but looking at these pictures, the real one is just too "beautiful" - just look at those hand-drawn PCB traces!

However, I wanted to do some extension of it, so I'd prefer one with socketed CPU and 6530 if possible - but before you throw it away....

Just in case you are interested I put my KIM-1 on Ebay.
I am going to the storage space tomorrow to find the manuals.
It's a big pile of mostly junk.
Please keep your fingers crossed for me. I am hoping to find an Apple II
