Hello!

Before i got my 6502 i had the 6802. For now it is just collecting dust on my desk, so i thought to make something simple with it, But it seems i can't find any assembler program that would allow me to write test and get code for the eprom. Are any simulators for the 6802?

Looks like the 6802 is a variant of the 6800. I've used crasm as an assembler - that's open source, source only. There are also some versions of Motorola's original freeware assemblers floating around, both for DOS and for unix flavours. (Sources and Windows binaries here)

For an emulator, I just googled up this IDE:

although I haven't tried it and know nothing about it. Looks closed-source, windows-only, but free of charge.

Here's a project called pyldin, emulating a Bulgarian 8-bit 6800-based computer (The Pyldin-601) which includes the Motorola assembler sources, and includes emulator binaries for Windows, Linux and Mac.

The machine has a monitor ROM, so maybe suitable for single-stepping and debugging, but the docs are in Bulgarian - not sure if anyone on this forum can help with a translation?

(There's also a project for remaking the machine with modern hardware, which I think means running the emulator on an ARM7)

Maybe someone might open a separate board for the 6802 topics...
6802 is connected to the 6502, but i noticed that the 6802 has some internal ram and is kinda half microcontroller, so it might be used in some small projects, i thought about building a small digital geiger counter with it. But there are no forums, just one small nano computer project and the link...
I think it would be nice to give it a try(as a forum board), and to try doing something new with it...

(I notice that the nano computer by San Bergmans leads us to an assembler which targets 6802 and many other processors, presently for DOS(*) but being rewritten in python for windows/mac/linux)

(*) and linux, with dosemu

Ask me nicely and maybe I'll add a 6802 mode to my assembler
