(The 6501 was MOS's first product, and while it
might have been intended to be sacrified it certainly wasn't widely sold. Motorola sued because it was pin compatible with 6800, and MOS settled for a
reported $200k - but with freedom to sell the 6502, even though it's
nearly the same chip.)
