hi all
i am new in this wonderful world of 6502 cpus, i'd like to have a 6502 core on my spartan3 100 fpga, i am working to have it running, but i also need a 6502 simulator on my linux PC in order to prepare and test the assembly for the 6502 target.

So i need something extremely easy, just the emulation of CPU, ram, rom, uart and nothing else

what do you suggest ? is there any extremely easy project with linux as host ?

I'd recommend py65 and lib6502 - have a look at http://6502.org/tools/emu/

But a web-based emulator might be enough.

I have a very simple - probably not all too correct - c64 emulator with Unix curses interface here http://www.6502.org/users/andre/misc/index.html (as "xcbm"). May need to adjust some header includes for newer Unix/Linux standards, but still works.

Have you tried Klaus' test suite on it yet?

No, I haven't. The actual emulator dates to before I actually joined the VICE project. I gave it up when I became part of the VICE team, and only left it as fun project, because it worked on the console (even in color :-)

Looking at the screenshot, there might be a problem with the ncurses cursor placement, but still....

I thoroughly approve of a curses-based emulation!
