Hello Folks, Has anyone here, looked into the possibility of using the SuperCPU Accelerator for the C64 as a standalone Single Board ? Is it even possible ? not to mention is it even availible since CMD's demise. -Wally |

Hi Wally, This is certainly an interesting idea. I've never seen a schematic for the device, but I think you could get away with adding just a power supply and new firmware. However, as I recall the SuperCPU was quite expensive, something like USD$200. On the other hand, it might be worth the cost because it's a complete 20MHz 65816 computer with a memory interface for 72-pin SIMMs. Just some thoughts. Regards, Mike |

Hi Mike, The Clock Speed and Memory Interface were the big appeal to me as well. Yes they are/were pricy, but I have seen them around used. I guess I'm going to have to find one to see if it's usable. Judging by the lack of interest in the topic, I have to assume that there must be something about the design that does lend itself well to hacking. Thanks for the response, Wally |
