Off topic a tiny bit, but since you mentioned it: Going to school I had only two degree options available at our tiny university offshoot, either mathematics or computer information systems. Basically "math teacher" or "software developer". I didn't want to 'sit in a cubical for my whole life' so I decided to go math, but wasn't even considering teaching. Later while working as a lab assistant at the college, my boss *told* me I was going to start teaching. And so I did. And here I am 15 years later! Overall I am happy to have computers as a side gig. I absolutely *love* programming, but if it were my 9-to-5 I probably wouldn't want do it on the weekends anymore.
