Hi guys

I submitted the gerbers for my 65C02GPB2.5 design to JLPCB and they came back with:

"1.There are two board outlines in your file and we have no idea about which one to be used, could you please kindly delete the useless one and re-upload?"

I think they may be referring to the 6 mil traces that I have running around the edge of the board, but I'm not sure. I can say there are not 2 outlines.

Has anyone else come across this issue or might know what else they might be referring to?

Here's a corner of the PCB layout & extra info:


The PCB is a 4 layer one with the copper layers on layer 1 (top, signals), 2 (ground), 15 (power), 16 (bottom, signals)
A. Is the layer 20 (Dimension) and is the actual edge of the PCB. I have checked to ensure that there is only one of these outlines.
B. Is a polygon on layer 15 which fills the power plane
C. Is a polygon on layer 2 which fills the ground plane
D. Is a 6mil trace which goes around the board close to the edge; One on the power plane and one on the ground plane. They both follow the same path, just on different layers.
This is to prevent the copper on those planes from reaching the edge of the PCB and so potentially being exposed to air. I'm not sure if this is actually needed, but I've added them in as a precaution.

You should have a gerber file with .GKO extension that just has a single outline of your board and nothing else. That file defines your board outline.

These are the files produced by EagleCAD:

So no sign of a .gko

However, I edited the design removing a 6mil trace going around the edge of the PCB on layer 1 (top) which I forgot to remove. This follows the path of the traces on the power and ground planes and although not needed shouldn't have caused an issue. I also explained what layers are which and that Dimension (20) defines the outer edge of PCB and then resubmitted the file.
They came back with "Audit Failed, you can replace files when problem solved". I went to cancel the order, but it now says:
Data preparation and In production so maybe they reliased afterwards what the issue was. Or maybe it's just referring to the original file and not the replacement.

I am interested as to why eagle doesn't produce the GKO file as I've seen other sites refer to this file as well, but there is none.
BTW I have previously sent 2 layer designs to JLPCB with no issues and they also don't have a GKO file either.
I have a feeling that EagleCAD expects the JLPCB to know to use the Dimension layer?

The relevant section:

"If there is any milling design in your brd file, please add extra outline layer and check the "20 Dimension" and "46 Milling".

Click "Add" --> Change Section to something like “Edge cut outline”-- > Change File to “%N.gko”--> Deselect all layers --> Select layers 20 Dimension and 46 milling."

A good point. I can tell what many of the files do, but don't know all of the possible extensions, so will take a look at what the gerber spec encompasses.
