I've got some ic, and i can't get them working. I don't know if i am doing something wrong, or they are really wracked.
I bought some AtMega8 at my local store a while ago, and they have been sitting in a box, until recently when i wanted to make a small usb interface devise, when i had a hard time to get them working. The same story with some pic16f628, brand new from the store, and i get errors when i try to program them. I also have a pic 16f877, that just won't work anymore from no obvious reason.
I also have a 6116 and a glcd that i bought back in high school(which i can't find right now), that i never managed to get working.
I'll ship you this stuff for free, and you get to keep them if they work or not, just let me know if this ic work or are they really wracked...

I would want to know if I damaged the mcu in some way, or they sell defective ic in my local store.

If you want some reward, i can offer 28 pin zif sockets, and other stuff...

I am asking this also because i suspect that my programmer might be responsible for this, and i don't have any other way to check.

If you want to send me an ATMega8, I can test it. You should load it with your program and send it to me. Send a copy of the source code/hex file too and I can read the device and compare it to the source. If it doesn't match, I can program it and send it back for you to test. PM me and I'll give you my mailing address.

Yes. Its slow and buggy. I uninstalled it after an hour.

It has a horrible project file structure. Creates loads of config files and directories for no apparent reason.

I wanted to get the pic18f2550 usb port working(plan b if 8BIT can't fix the atmega board that i sent him), i tried with proton ide, that i usually use, but i didn't have much luck. I asked my professor, and he suggested that i download mplab, and that it contains lots of examples. And i did, but when i open them, none of the include files can be found, and because of that none of the examples work... I am out of ideas about what could be wrong with it...

Thanks to 8bit for fixing the code. I made a small demonstration of the module to the club mentor with a simple interpreter program that i wrote in vb.net a long time ago(that they have already been using but with the lpt interface), and he was pleased. Now i have to build two more for the kids in the robotic competition club, so they now don't have to buy that expensive Fischertechnik robot kits...
I mentioned this to GARTHWILSON a while ago, with the idea that this could be manufactured cheaply and sold like that 4mb sram module for toes with small budgets. I was also thinking to make a flowchart like environment for beginners and kids in java, but i still need to figure out how to make the actual flowchart interface(this cold all actually work on a r-pi if i manage to get it all working in java!)...

Also thanks to BitWise for testing the pic, and sending me some surplus ic samples that he had.
