Hallo allemaal,

I googled a lot and approached various people and groups but nobody could give me a clear answer. So I hope that some of you can help me.

I own a Eurocom-1: http://www.computermuseumgroningen.nl/m ... rocom.html
This computer is equiped with a Motorola 6802. Eltec also produced a little module containing a 6809, a 14 pins TTL IC and some resistors that enables one to replace the 6802 with a 6809. But that was over 25 years ago....

So my question: has anybody by chance done such a project?

I have no hardware experience with the 6808 nor 6802 at all. I'm sure I'm capable of doing the job at the end but not having that much free time I rather prefer to find some experience than inventing the wheel again.

FYI: I want to use the Eurom to gain some very lowlevel programming knowledge of the 6809. This knowledge I want to use for my Commodore SuperPET which is equiped withe a 6502 and a 6809. So this subject not completely off topic :)

In case you can't get that to work, you might find a used Dragon computer (which in the US was known as the TRS-80/Tandy Color Computer). It's central CPU is a 6809, and I understand was a remarkable computer design.

Also consider the Vectrex! I have a Vectrex which is a 6809 based cartridge based game machine: unique selling point being the vector display, like Asteroids and Battlezone. The CRT stopped working within hours, but I did once hook it to the X and Y inputs of a scope, and that worked as expected.

Much more to the point, see John Honniball's pages where he fits a 6809 into the 6502 socket of a compukit UK101 with minimal hardware change. His progress log is very interesting.

The 6809E is a somewhat different asnmimal than the 6800 series.

Look up for Bally pinball series 17 or 35 which used the 6800-6802 series.
