I used poor mans wire wrap, Wire wrap sockets are so expensive anymore so I use Single inline headers with the wires pushed flat to the plastic holder. I stuff these through the board and solder them to each pin on the socket.
This is more akin to verowire than wirewrap, but I see the benefit in a cheap and convenient construction technique. (Wirewrap is redoable, which is handy.)
