BTW, the quoted shipping rate of US $27.75 for going via post is a rip. That item would ship at 6-7 dollars in the USA and about 12-13 CDN going to Canada. That's including insurance. I just luuuvvve eBay sellers who try to make money on the shipping as well as the item.

I agree.

Even if you include the box, the packing, the time and the cost to get to the post office, it's not going to add to $28. But in this case I'm okay with it. I've wanted a SYM-1 for some time and they are never available to me here. The one I bought was only $255 because it has a ribbon cable soldered to the back going to an IDC connector. Easy enough to remove. Overall, if I include the stupid shipping cost, I'll still have decent bargain.

Considering I need it and all.

Interesting find. Most of the main ICs have 83 or 82 date codes though, so I'm not sure if it is all as old as claimed?

Same with the one I bought, but to a lesser extent. I wouldn't hold that against it though, unless you were trying to be 'authentic'. I must have a dozen boards of various descriptions with missing ICs. Sometimes it's easier to borrow an IC from a currently unused board than it is to go buy one or order one on-line. Great ideas don't wait forever. When that board becomes 'important' again, you either buy or borrow another IC to get it going.

So...

It arrived about a week ago and I had to put it aside for a little while. Got to it today (my day!) It had a few changes to the jumpers for a custom application, a ribbon cable with a connector soldered on to the back and a bad capacitor in the reset circuit (c10). One I removed the cable, fixed the jumpers and replaced the capacitor it works like a charm! It came with 4K of RAM, BASIC ROMs and the additional 6522. It was sent with what seemed to be a brand new reference manual dated 1982. Most of the 65xx series chips are dated '82 or later so I'm guessing it's a later model. The monitor is also the 1.1 version.

I'm happy and looking forward to muckin' around with it.
