It's apparently not finished, but all the footage is shot, and there's a trailer, talking with Jack Tramiel about the C64, at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/17 ... generation along with more pictures and description.

What's an additional VIA among friends, anyhow?

I'm a little late to the game here, but it's long since finished. It was excellent, I thought.

I'm in the credits.

How can we watch it? http://www.8bitgeneration.com/the-movie/ is apparently the official page; but I don't find any way to watch it. It's not on YouTube either. Also, I've been able to find various few-minute clips, but they were almost exclusively about games. If that's what the movie is mostly about, I'm not interested. (I'm not a games person at all.) Otherwise, I'd be glad to buy a DVD or something like that.

Looks like '8 bit generation' is the outfit making documentaries, and the documentaries themselves are for cinematic release. See for example
http://www.commodorewars.com/seethefilm
"8 Bit Generation dives into the home computer explosion and explores Commodore’s key role in shaping the future in which we now live."
"In February 2016 we released the first episode “Growing The 8 Bit Generation”, focused on the home computer explosion and Commodore role in the personal computer revolution."
"The movie featured previously unreleased interviews with Jack and Leonard Tramiel, Chuck Peddle, Al Charpentier, Bil Herd, Michael Tomczyk, Dave Rolfe, Richard Garriot, Jeff Minter, Andy Finkel as well as Steve Wozniak, Nigel Searle, John Grant, Nolan Bushnell, Al Alcorn, Joe Decuir among others"

"In June 2016 we started the new Kickstarter campaign for the second documentary: Easy to Learn, Hard to Master – The Fate of Atari"

It wasn't all about games, or I wouldn't have enjoyed it either.

I'm not sure of the retail distribution method; I can't claim to know anything about the movie industry. But I'll see if I can find out.

Update: as far as I can gather, they renamed the movie "The Commodore Wars." It looks like it will be a while before it can be bought on individual media. It has been and will be screened in a small number of places around the world, tentatively, and you can request additional screenings.

All of what I know now, I read here: http://www.commodorewars.com/seethefilm

Beyond these scheduled screenings, I can't guess what they do next. I probably had emails with information but because I got too reliant on very reliable hardware and software, and got lax with backups, I lost a whole lot of emails recently.
