Programming a 6502-based KIM-1 machine back in 1985.

(This is from another article posted here:)

Gather ’round children, we’re about to hear a story about the good old days. Except that this is really more of a horror story of what it used to be like as a code monkey. [John Graham-Cumming] shares his experience programming a 6502-based KIM-1 machine back in 1985. Simple, right? The caveat being that there was no assembler or hardware for loading the finished code!

Indeed. I first read '1975' but 1985? IN 1975 I also did assembly on paper like this. Still have those pieces of paper somewhere. Good for one page code.

But in 1985? Plenty of 6502 assemblers available then, either on a 6502 or as cross assembler.

I even had a native Pascal compiler running on my (somewhat expanded!) KIM-1 in 1982 from cassette tape!.

Nice!
I self-edited my negative comments out, hence the '...' since I couldn't delete my post. I really didn't appreciate the tone, but I realized it was just a bait.

It's just hackaday.. Their business is just getting clicks from as many people as possible... which doesn't mean any quality control beyond needing the requisite buzzwords.
