When I was a member of the dutch KIM USer Club, around 1980, a group of profesiional electronic engineers showed me a system based upon the KIM-1, called T4, to be used in industrial environments.
The system was developed by Visser Assembling Electronics and used a.o, in the factory of Forbo Krommenie.
Made up of the usual RAM, EPROM, buffer, input (analog and digital) and digital output, the cards were KIM-1 full size and to be placed in a passive backplane. Quite a large system!

The KIM-1 was modified so that the keyboard and the LED display were on the end of a cable so that the KIM-1 could be placed in the board cage.

I have made photos of the boards and scanned the documents with brochure, descriptions and circuit diagrams. This page contains all that is known of that system.

I do not have the T4 system anymore, the VAE KIM-1 (and several other KIM-1 and Elektor Juniors!) are still for sale here: http://sales.hansotten.nl/index.php?pag ... tuur-kim-1
