I've recently come across a high level language called PL/65 - It seems Atari based though. Looks like a combined suite of editor and compiler.

Some details here:

https://atariwiki.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=PL65

But no sign of the sources - anyone here know about it?

Cheers,

-Gordon

Interesting, kinda reminds me of a line number-less BASIC with some Pascal tossed in (not surprising since Pascal and PL65 are both derived from ALGOL).

I'd love to try porting this if only we had the source. :)

I don't think this Atari PL65 is a PL/1 derivation like the PL/M language used to write CP/M (and later a full PL/1 compiler) or Rockwell's PL/65.

I've been looking for PL/65 too but no trace it remains other than in magazines and journals.

It might be worth searching PDP-11 archives as it was available as a cross compiler. Not tried that yet.

Source for Atari PL65?: https://atariwiki.org/wiki/attach/PL65/pl65src.zip

Source(s) for Rockwell PL/65?: https://github.com/assinie/PL65/tree/master/src/pl65

These languages look very similar in some respects.

The Rockwell PL/65 repository appears to be an attempt to reverse engineer this disassembly

into PL/65 source code but looking at the listing it looks hand coded so this could be tricky.
