Some years ago Jordan Mechner published his
fascinating story of the development of Prince of Persia for the Apple ][.
He thought the source was lost (although he had published his
design notes (pdf)) but
recently he rediscovered the floppies...
Meantime,
mrsid took on the project of reversing the game from a memory dump and
rebuilding it
for the C64. He too has
published his fascinating story, and his
annotated disassembly (zip file)
