Hello all,

I have been programming for about 6 years now - MUDs mostly. Recently though, I have wanted to start learning 6502 ASM to develop
NES roms. I hate to admit it but I really need some pointers and am hoping that some of you here have interest in NES programming.

I have found a few resources online, but there aren't any clear tutorials that I've found. I am ordering a few 6502 books online, but they
focus on Atari and Commodore 64.

Can someone suggest good any good documentation about the NES specifics? Also, I would love to find some code examples.

Thanks,

There's a lot of resources at http://wiki.nesdev.com/ including an active forum (BBS).

As with all wikis, you may have to search around a bit.

Cheers
Ed

First I need to recommend the excellent programming manual, "Programming the 65816 Including the 6502, 65C02, and 65802" by David Eyes and Ron Liechty. I have a few programming tips in section 20 of my 6502 primer. Other relevant sections will be section 17, "General Steps For A Successful Project," section 18, "Program-Writing: Where Do I Start?," and section 19, "Debugging."

(Welcome, Johnny!)
For general, rather than NES-specific, 6502 intro, both the Zaks and the Leventhal books are highly thought of and you'll probably be able to find pdf's while you're waiting for delivery. I think we prefer not to link directly to copyright materials on the forum though.

Cheers
Ed
