A bit of confusion, it seems, Garth. Unlike 65xx, on the SN76489, RDY is an output, so it'd be inappropriate to ground it. Otherwise I agree; when a pin named RDY is high it means ready. And when a pin named RDY\ is low it means ready.

Yes; I edited my post to say "put it low," so it doesn't sound like a hardwire grounding on the PCB. The SN76489 output would be the one putting RDY low, through an onboard transistor.
