Some quotes I really like there:
  • "Programs must not be regarded as code for computers, but as literature for humans."
  • "Reducing size and complexity is the triumph."

Edit, 12/7/22:  enso's link in the head post, http://oberonstation.x10.mx/, has gone dead.  The latest archive copy seems to be from early 2018, at https://web.archive.org/web/20180219082 ... on.x10.mx/ .

Hey, I see the OberonStation got a favourable mention in a Register article:
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/12/02 ... s_oberton/
(Bottom line being that it should prove to be more educational than a Raspberry Pi or similar.)

I was disappointed to read on your blog about your experiences with the board, Hans. I stumbled upon it indirectly by crawling through your web site looking for UCSD P-System stuff.

I love the idea of the board, the entire concept of creating the CPU and system "from scratch" and building everything else up on top of it.

You hear folks lamenting the idea of closed hardware, from undocumented GPUs to the supervisory security co-processors built in to modern chips. To see something like this with a mature system like Oberon on top of it is pretty exciting.
