I have several Commodore 1541 drives and none of them work 100%.
One common fault are the 6522’s in them. In one drive, the motor never stopped spinning on power up. I swapped the 6522 from another drive and it fixed it. However it won’t format a disk. Which could be the other 6522.

I suppose I could remove every 6522 in every drive and swap them out and run format commands but since the ROMs could also be bad, this method will take ages.

So is there an easier way to test these chips?

Thanks!
