I've been scouring the manuals to figure out how set the jumpers to get a pair of 2732 chips with BASIC into my SYM-1.

Does anyone have a source for a SYM-1 schematic? There's one in the "theory of operations" manual PDF file, but it's split over several pages and missing information ... and, of course, some of the missing area covers the jumpers and select logic for the ROM sockets.

With a 4K EPROM in U21 (P1) and U22 (P2), I'll need to configure three signals in each socket:
Code:
S11 (U21 pin 18, #Enable)
S21 (U22 pin 18, #Enable)

S12 (U21 pin 21, A11)
S22 (U22 pin 21, A11)

S13 (U21 pin 20, #Gate)
S23 (U22 pin 20, #Gate)
What I've got so far is this:
Code:
11-K and 12-K to get #Gate to the $C000 and $C800 decoder outputs
13-L and 14-L to get $Gate to the $D000 and $D800 decoder outputs

1-F to get A11 to U21
1-G to get A11 to U22

2-B to tie #Enable low for U21
2-C to tie #Enable low for U22
Does that look right?

Check the Sym ref manual pages 4-27 and following. I have RAE in a 2 chip version using a Blalock 2 rom convertor to 1 socket. I also have a 28c256 eeprom in a 28 to 24 pin adaptor where the 8k Sym basic rom was. I need to check my setup and these docs and I can try and help. My new eprom programmer (TL866II plus) can't program older > 18 V eproms so I have adapted to the newer 2764A and eeprom versions. I also have a limited supply of older eproms and no UV eraser (at the moment) so I made do with the newer larger eeproms.
Let me know how you made out but I can check my notes to see what I did.

Also check out Symphysis-12 page 11 and 12 (located in the SYM resources section) Under http://6502.org/documents/publications/symphysis/

Yep, that's what I used to try to cook up this jumper configuration.

I've finally got my board working again, so I'm going to try to rewire the jumpers this week.

These configurations work! I've got a 2732 in U21, and another in U22. These jumpers map C000 and C800 to U21, and D000 and D800 to U22.

It'll be a bit before I can actually test BASIC because I need some female DB-9 connectors, but poking around with the mem command looks like everything is working as expected. The only real problem was the super fragile traces and landings on the SYM board. Two peeled up while I was unsoldering the factory connectors, and you can see I had to jumper some Kynar back to U24 as a repair.
