Last night I created a schematic that is almost identical to the "Potpourri" computer on the primer site.

http://wilsonminesco.com/6502primer/potpourri.html

I realize this schematic was made a long time ago and it provides a good base for a simple 6502 SBC. The only part I left out was the clock generation. The primer design uses Φ2 (pin 39) as the clock for the 65C22 and /RAMSEL.

For something really simple, I'm sure this design will work. However, before I have a board made (which I plan on doing real soon), I'm wondering if I can just use the same can oscillator's output directly into /RAMSEL and a 65C22 (S)?

Also, if I use the can oscillator directly, do I need any sort of caps between the OUT and PHI2?

Thanks for any tips.

You do need the NAND gate in there. However, the clock input for it though can come directly from the clock oscillator instead of pin 39, and you can leave 39 (and 3) disconnected.

No. The clock options are given in Note 1 below the diagram. I'll try to expand the last part of Note 1. [Edit: Done.]

I always like leaving lots of options open. If you're not sure of what way(s) you may want to do something, and you're laying out a board, put in a jumper choice if necessary so you can change your mind after the board is made.
