With [codebox]Your long code here[/codebox] tags so that disassembled code can be inserted without making the page a scroll down marathon event.

True but people come in and propose new reverses. Several are around the forums, some may give information to later reverses. Worth all in its own area.

Is it worth starting with a 'Reverse Engineering Index' post under 'General'? It could be kept up to date (manually) and it will demonstrate how much suitable material there is, and how often it comes up.

Linking back to previous posts or topics, preferably with a short accurate description, could be a useful service anyway and should also help people find things with searches.

Is finding posts the main problem you aim to solve?

(Whether or not a new forum is made, the existing posts won't be in it. So an index post would help. It might be enough.)

more of finding posts. Lets say someone was working on a similar unit 2 years ago and their post was pretty buried. If all the reverse engineering topic posts were in a forum, they are pretty easily accesible. An index post, definitely a thought there....
