Recently I had a look at Bill Mensch's topography patents, and
US patent 4,739,475 gives us some dimensions, as well as a floorplan and block diagram:

As usual, the drawings by the designer are upside-down compared to the photo-micrographs. Notice there's a temporary register (towards the right, labelled 159).

Notice the temporary register isn't mentioned here.
