I don't like it. This is quite O.T. though-- or do you have some connection in mind?

How so Garth?
You mean On Topic? Or do you forget Motorola's roots?
Hmmm.... I know you don't...

googleplex. Maybe something to think about

And BTW, I don't like it either. In fact I absolutely HATE it.

By O.T., I meant off-topic. The 6502 did not come from Mot though, and Mot never made the 6502. It was competitor to Mot's 6800, and the 65816 was a competitor to Mot's 6809 and even 68000, the latter doing similarly in benchmark tests. The only connection is that it's in the computer field, but a totally diffierent league (Android-based mobile devices).

Yes, I know where the MOS 6502 came from. This news, is another thing that just pisses me off, and I was already in a foul m00d, sorry. Although, Mot was a competitor, it has proven itself worthy over the years by developing silicon.
Now, an other POS company is buying them out. A company full of suites. We have sold our country's best to a bunch of F'in lawyers...

I agree. I also don't like that I heard TI just bought National out, since National was always so much easier to work with, get samples, get databooks (before the internet), get technical support, etc., and TI was lousy about that. Another man I work with just got the run-around from TI on some DSP stuff and said they're still that way. Someone called me for a survey one time about Power Trends integrated switching regulators becaused we used one in a product, and she asked what I thought about a couple of different companies' support, including TI's, and I told the woman, and then it came out that she worked for TI and TI was buying Power Trends. I told her that was not good news.
