If all else fails, you can order them directly from the Western Design Center. They accept credit cards.

Unlikely the shipping and handling for two 65C816 (12,36$) cost 40$.

Does this thread help? It mentions Coltek Ltd (no web presence), and TRG components. Although I think both are just taken from WDC's directory which mentions several other European distributors.

WDC will not sell anything to me. I asked for several chips, i "applied" to buy them, Bill Mensch has emailed me to discuss other things, but no chips or offers to sell have occured. Furthermore, no vendor on http://6502org.wikidot.com/suppliers has any 6502, 65C02, 6510 listed for sale (one has a joke line asking $35 for one 6502). I found two vintage 65C02A from an individual, but no idea of the speed. So seriously, where does one buy a new 65C02, or a fpga already programmed for 6502, 65C02, 6510 use??

Edit: Jameco has 1mhz 65C02. I was hoping for 8, 10, 14mhz? I have the 1mhz parts in 8 C64's on the shelf.

frustrated,,

You may be able to get a 6502 from this place:

http://ncs.apatco.com/shop/index.php?categoryID=4

I am going to get a quote from WDC and I'll see what happens.

Hi aikatt,
6502 are easy to find than 65C816.
Jameco sell 6502 or 65C02 Dip-40 at 5.95$ each.

I think they sell it:

http://www.westerndesigncenter.com/wdc/ ... .cfm#thumb

Does the board want to think about doing a group purchase? I think there is a $10 fee for orders under $100.

I would like to start fresh on a W65C816S so maybe the board members wouldn't mind thinking about doing a group project together? How much are they subject to static electricity and should I start out with three or more of them?

Like i said, they would not sell to me. They referred me to 3 retailers, none of which had the 65xx family chips.

Ok, i ordered 2 thru the apatco website, and paid with PayPal, and apatco said i didn't. So i called apatco on phone, and they say their webpage is down. So do NOT buy from them, apparently the site is a fake. Now i haveto deal with getting the money back from PayPal... <sigh>

Ok, now i am getting an email every 5 minutes from Gord Clink at apatco, saying it's all a mistake, and payment was recieved and he notified PayPal, and the chips are being shipped asap, and so on. If the shopping cart had worked, if the secretary hadn't said the site was down, if the moon was elsewhere and roses were green, praps this would have gone more smoothly. I think i will still hold off on getting the 65C22-14's and see what happens.

Feb 22 -2010
Chaos had ensued after this, but the bottom line is: I did get the chips in the mail today, the site wasn't down, the PayPal money got to the right people, i will do more business with apatco (if they'll allow). It was an unfortunate series of errors all the way around in the ordering process, but it did go thru, and i have no reservations about placing another order.

I did suggest, apparently to no avail, that a search from http://apatco.com/ search box pull up the page for the 65C02-14 and the 65C22-14 chips. I just did a search, and same as last time, there's no indication you can buy the chips from them. I won't be debugging their site for them, but i wonder if they flagged the chip pages to be non-indexed by google if searcing from the front page of the site. Wierdness. For those wanting those two chips, the urls are:

65C02-14 : http://ncs.apatco.com/shop/index.php?productID=4
65C22-14 : http://ncs.apatco.com/shop/index.php?productID=5

Just in case they may sell other 65C chips in the future, you can get results searching for 65c on apparently any page, except their front page at apatco.com!

I haven't done business with them but they are a business and Western Design Center does business with them. Other manufacturers have made mistakes by not including power supplies in their product and they have made it up to me by Fed Ex-ing them to me (though not requested in that manner). It isn't uncommon for some of these internet sites to say that Visa works fine but choke on one of my other credit cards but perhaps it is their way of saying they only want Visa. Or perhaps some sites don't work well with other cards than Visa.

Are you holding off or are they shipping them?

I don't make large orders with someone i've never done business with before, so i ordered and paid for only the two 65C02. They say they are being shipped as ordered. I'm not terribly worried at this point, but i'll wait on the 65C02-14's getting here before i order the 65C22-14's. I don't plan on running the 14mhz parts at 14 right away, and i have a bin full of lower speed 6522's.

Who are these "board members" you spoke of, and how do they get WDC to sell them chips?
