I've been intermittently working on putting together a website for my POC V1 single-board computer. The website is now up and running, is almost W3C-compliant and completely browser-agnostic—no Javascript mumbo-jumbo, and definitely no Microsoft malarkey in the code. Right now the site consists of a few pages with some graphics, so it's far from complete and not at all sophisticated. I'll be adding more as time goes by and will eventually organize the site along the lines of what André Fachat and Daryl Rictor did with their sites.

The launching of the website comes at a time when I have had to make some personal decisions. Some of you know that I'm not in the best of health and recently went through a period of severe illness that started in December 2011. I have not made a full recovery to date and because of this, my wife has been pressuring me to back off on my work schedule. I have resisted her urging up until now but have finally accepted that I have to back off to avoid further health complications. I definitely don't want to croak before I build my maxxed-out 65C816-powered mainframe and write 816nix.

So this will be my last year as a full-time worker. By the end of December, I am going to semi-retire (I'm 67) and spend more time doing non-business things, such as playing music and monkeying with my toys. I won't be taking on new clients and will be gradually reducing the number of clients that I am now servicing. I also will no longer do scratch vertical software development, as such work represents a major time commitment that I can no longer make. I will also discontinue most of my hardware business, as the physical effort involved has become a bit of a challenge for me (wrestling with 60 pound servers, for example). All of this will cut cash flow, to be sure, but I will have enough coming in from existing client support arrangements to stay positive.

With more free time available to me, I can gradually build up the POC website. Among other things, it will be a place to publish code, drawings, etc., as the project progresses.

The first publication, once I get farther along with the site, with be the POC V1's BIOS ROM source code in its entirety (11,700+ lines). Also down the road will be an endeavor to split the machine language monitor out of the BIOS code and arrange so it can be separately assembled. The monitor code will then be made available for download to anyone who would like a full-featured 65C816 M/L monitor for their system, but doesn't want to expend the not-inconsiderable time required to write one from scratch.

There will be more to come, I hope. As long as I can sit at a keyboard and type I'm going to keep playing with this stuff. Who knows? I might even come up with something useful. :P

2012/08/19: Changed the website link to http://sbc.bcstechnology.com. The old URL remains active.
2012/11/30: Latest website update.

Great job BDD. I have added it to my bookmarks and will enjoy seeing your site grow.

We can only benefit! :D We'll look forward to more!

I have completed page 4 and added a new page to the POC V1 website. I also cleaned up several other pages that were victims of dubious grammar, spelling errors, etc. The date of the site's last update will be prominently displayed in the top page frame. Comments are welcome.

In Chrome there's an annotation to say they are Flash! BDD is a secret fan of proprietary technology after all!

Those are artifacts from code that I borrowed from another website. They are now gone. As I said, I'm steadily working on it. Websites aren't my forte, as is apparent when you look at it.

BTW, it appears either your screen resolution is quite low and/or you are running on a 4x3 monitor.

They are not Flash. I don't use Flash and I'm definitely not a proprietary technology proponent. :P

I got busy and slightly reorganized the POC website. It now has a navigation menu and a new page.

If you weren't on the other side of the planet I'd give you a 19 inch 4x3 LCD monitor that I recently took out of service. It runs 1280x1024 with excellent clarity. Unfortunately, the cost to ship it to Croatia, plus whatever duties your customs people would demand, would substantially exceed its value.

I got a simple download area running. It's nothing sophisticated, of course.
