I've been playing with the CCU3000 (65C02 core) that is used as the MCU in a few DMAC satellite receivers (I have a few Thomson SRB1's). I can make it do most of what I want but I can't get it to drive the graphics generator in the receivers' conditional access module. So, more out of desperation than sense, I removed the EPROM from the CAM to see if there was anything usefull in it.
There was, it was full of more 65C02 code.
It seems that the chip in the CAM is another 65C02 cored device, clocked at 20.5MHz no less.
The part is marked ..
GENERAL
INSTRUMENT
72523-2
F840590 R9027
Anyone know anything about this chip? I guess the R9027 is the date code as it fits in with the date codes of the other chips on the board.
The graphics generator, also a GI chip is similarly marked ..
GENERAL
INSTRUMENT
72522-1
F840732 A9023
And, like the micro, also gives no hits when searched.
I know I can eventually do this the hard way but I'd rather no so does anyone know anything anout these chips? Or where I can get the info.
As usual full details will (eventually) make it onto the site.
Cheers,
Lee.
