With the most gratitude going to Leepivonka for his 65816 source of FigForth and Mike for getting me started in the right direction with his efficient code snippets. Hi guys Can anyone who has experience designing for the 65816 know the realistic maximum number of devics (TTL/CMOS load) you can have being driven by the address bus and various control signals such as RWB? (data bus wise, it would be down to the buffer/PLD ...

... Ophis assembler and run unit tests in the Py65Mon. That allows for a fast development cycle before I go to real hardware. Now that I have working 65816 hardware, I'd like a similar development environment. Can anyone recommend a 65816 assembler for Windows? Can anyone recommend a 65816 emulator ...

Following on from this post I've tried detecting interrupts BEFORE any of the stack pushes occur; and using Dr Jefyll's schematic below wavery00.png I've simulated up the following for detecting software interrupts: SoftwareInterrupt.png and hardware interrupts: HardwareInterrupt.png And both cases...

I am ready to move on to the 65816 version of FigForth.

Is there an link anywhere or is this a DIY project?

The versions I have come across for the 65816 are for a full 32-bit Forth or just have the original 6502 instructions.

I'm super happy to report that my latest design, the JRC-1, is up and running! jrc1.jpg (apologies for the slightly blurry picture) The board is 200x130 mm and four layers. It was manufactured by JLCPCB. The system specs are: 65c816 CPU @ 4 MHz 1 MB of 55 ns SRAM (2 x AS6C4008) 256 KB of 90 ns EEPRO...

Just a thought, we could collect the markings on any 65816 chips we have. We might find for example that quite a few years of recent purchases are all from the same batch. Or that they are all very different. Mine were bought, I think, in April 2008, ...

Hi all, A question I've been asking myself is can multiple W65C816s all be connected to the same 'main' memory and run both concurrently and completely transparently to each other? It's a topic that's come up in this Logisim thread where I've been cheerfully confusing Dr Jefyll with my vague explana...

I have seen many comments which suggest 65816 bank zero must be treated as a special case. I question this wisdom. What is the downside of mirroring I/O and ROM in all banks? For example, having 32KB RAM, 16KB I/O and 16KB ROM in every bank where ...

Is the byte length of 65816 instructions a function of only the addressing mode used and not which register is being accessed or the opcode, just like the 6502?

I'm seriously confused here so diving right in... Programming the 65816 says: The ABORT’ input pin, when it is asserted, causes the current instruction to be aborted. Unlike an interrupt, none of the registers are updated and the instruction quits execution ...

Hi all! First post here and it's because I need a bit of help. Is anyone familiar with writing Logisim libraries? I've written a (half) cycle accurate 65c816 emulator that I had intended to drop into Logisim but I do not understand how Logisim's port propagation works. If you take a look at the imag...
