... a feeling that I'll encounter similar situations elsewhere. Moral of the story: Enjoy and appreciate Will's implementation, but don't use it for pacemakers or rocket guidance systems. |

... nature of the application. The medical exception, for example, only applies to equipment that will be placed inside the patient's body - such as a pacemaker. It is entirely reasonable that a pacemaker, which has to work for a decade without maintenance and the consequences for failure is the death ... |

On July 18 [2018] I was fitted with a pacemaker in an effort to control chronic bradychardia... The saga continues... A while back, the pacemaker was replaced with a defibrillator in an effort to stop left ventricular fibrillation (V-fib). ... |

... a 4kW per transistor limit. With this type of power envelope, a mission critical control system is required. Potentially, something used in pacemakers or engine control systems may be sufficiently reliable. |

Mike Naberezny (owner of 6502.org) de-capped the microcontroller in the instrument panel of his VW Jetta in a project to integrate ... |

... (and money) getting it set up and tooled. lathe01.gif Later in the year, medical malarkey started giving me some grief. I ended up trading in my pacemaker for a pacer/defibrillator, which involved some dicing and slicing at the hospital. So far, so good, only to then get whacked by the Chinese ... |

In the months that had followed the implantation of the pacemaker last year, I had developed persistent arrhythmia that was causing me some grief. The data sheet specifically suggests these can be used for dual cache and for cycle-steal DMA. I haven't heard if anyone actually ever did this though. |

Hmm, I think the pacemakers came much later, although I see what you mean about safety-critical designs. I'm not saying WDC were wrong to add the signals - for one thing, the idea that the 6502 makes unexpected memory accesses might ... |

... The 6502 and its brethren turn up in some truly odd places. My previous microwave oven had a 6502-based controller in it. I was hoping I'd get a pacemaker with a 6502, but no luck. Should I demand a refund and a new pacemaker powered by a 65C02? :D |
