Re: OT: VOYAGER 1 STILL GOING!

It may be my age and the nostalgia associated with the Apollo missions (although I was born by then, I was too young to watch the moon landings) but it seemed to be a golden age of discovery we'll probably never rediscover. However, the sheer effort required to put humans on the moon was a catalyst ...

Re: <2kbyte 6502 Tiny Basic?

I have had a chance to study Will's 8080 tiny BASIC a bit more, and I'm impressed by his skill in making the most of the 8080's 16-bit repertoire. It's not all roses, though ...

Most of us can appreciate the trading of cycles for bytes. For example, if we already have an a=a+b and a b=-b , then we ...

Re: The Case for Lead-based Solder

The primary purpose and concern of RoHS is in where those restricted substances would end up after the end of the useful life of the product. The concern is not about the health of the manufacturing staff (though not using the materials covered certainly can't hurt in that regard), or the health of ...

Age = Illness: More Update

The saga continues...

A while back, the pacemaker was replaced with a defibrillator in an effort to stop left ventricular fibrillation (V-fib). That unit seemed to work okay for a while, but ultimately ...

Re: 12.5MHz One Bit DAC Using Rational Numbers

For some mad reason, I thought that it would be a really good idea to layout a quad rational DAC on a 100mm*100mm board. The result of this attempt was mixed.

I've had multiple false starts with microcontrollers and processors. I've also had multiple false starts with circuit design. I started ...

Re: Enough of old timers: What about a port of MicroPython?

I was ROFLing at this thought: what if WDC is a sham and we are the only paying customers? Laundry for the cartel? Where are the billions of 6502s, really? Not in anything in my house (not counting my Apple and Atari machines) - I looked. There is a suspicious glob in my multimeter, but I doubt it ...

Re: POC Computer Version One

Amazing how time flies. Hobby computing languished for a while as I focused attention on my railroad stuff. Plus I purchased an engine lathe last summer and spent a fair amount of time (and money) getting it set up and tooled.

Later in the year, medical malarkey started giving me ...

Re: Age = Illness

Well, ladies and gentlemen, it's been an interesting couple of months of heart contretemps. I had to undergo some more heart stuff, one procedure being a catheter ablation—two of them, actually.

In the months that had followed the implantation of the pacemaker last year, I had developed persistent ...

The data sheet specifically suggests these can be used for dual cache and for cycle-steal DMA. I haven't heard if anyone actually ever did this though.

Re: 65XX SBC general help and color display help needed

Hmm, I think the pacemakers came much later, although I see what you mean about safety-critical designs.

I'm not saying WDC were wrong to add the signals - for one thing, the idea that the 6502 makes unexpected memory accesses might be seen as a misfeature, especially to someone used to read strobe ...

We'll all support you no matter what you choose. Give your new instruction set a chance, but if you experience discomfort, ask a doctor if the 65C02 is right for you.
We'll see how well I shift and rotate.

Re: Thanks Mike, and everyone, for an excellent community

Most recently, I found a 6502 hidden in a car radio .
Yep! The 6502 and its brethren turn up in some truly odd places. My previous microwave oven had a 6502-based controller in it. I was hoping I'd get a pacemaker with a 6502, but no luck. Should I demand a refund and a new pacemaker powered by a ...
