Good Morning Bryan,

In case you do not know about this already, download the excellent
manual on WDC's site " Assembly Language Programming for the W65C02
& the W65816 " or follow this link :

It does not answer all questions...but will ...

Garthwilson said to Put capacitors as close to the IC that needs them as possible.

Yes, this is always good advice.

Why are the memory mapped devices typically in the high-end RAM areas (just below ROM)? I would think having as much contiguous memory for the programs as possible would be ...

Re: Jim Butterfield

That's too bad. He was a very gifted writer who had an incredible
knack for explaining how computers worked in everyday terms.
I will always be gratefull for his Book " Machine language for
beginners " ( or something like that )

I was wondering what ever happened to Jim Butterfield, who was sort ...

Hello Everyone,
This is one area that WDC should spend some time on if for nothing else
but to dispell alot of the myths that are hard to discredit based on the
limited resources most of us hobbyists have. WDC likes to cut and paste
their documentation sometimes so you have to be carefull.
For ...

Please forgive my opening, but I simply cannot call you "Clueless"

I would like to suggest an alterternative.

The original (NMOS) 6502 was introduced at Western Design Center was founded in '78. The 65C02 came out in '80, and the '816 came out two or three years later (I don't remember exactly when). Wally Daniels gave me the URL of a video interview with Bill Mensch which has a lot of good historical info ...

Glad you mentioned www.abebooks.com. I have been using them for

Who was the manufacturer of the Cable Data Terms, and what was the

Yeah, sounds like the custom chips used in the Amiga. I wonder if one of the reasons the Terbium will be so "revolutionary" is because it will be a computer-synthesized chip.

Do we know anything about the Terbium yet ? Such as basic arch. ,
backward compatibility, on board resources etc ...

Re: Poll: which 65xx do you use?

The 6504 was / is a great size for doing small projects. The 1st SBC I
made used an 04. Its too bad that one can't buy these derivatives like the
04 & 07 in CMOS !

-W

P.S. Has anyone else used the 04 in a project recently ?

IIRC, it was laid out by hand on somebody's kitchen table. Or maybe that was the WDC version......

I think that was the 816, but may also have applied to the C02. It
seems to me that Mr.Mensch reveals this in an interview or two which
you could probably find elsewhere on the net. ( Maybe Jim ...
