Re: Overflow confusion

Ahhhhh!

Dear Dieter, the devil is in the details

Well, we would need six 4_Input_ANDs , one 6_Input_OR, and three inverters.

In the sentence above, you clearly stated that you need 4-input AND gates , and now I see your schematic—the fourth input is used to determine which operation is ...

Re: Overflow confusion

Hi John, thank you for taking time to help me out!

All is fine, but I think I was not 100% understandable in my wording, forgive me, I'm not a native speaker.

I am at the step http://6502.org/users/dieter/v_flag/v_4.htm where Dieter says "Problem is, that with ALU chips like the 74181, we don't ...

Re: Overflow confusion

Hello gurus,

I have built a TTL 6502 and I'm writing some documentation (in Italian) that could be useful to someone interested in the matter, or maybe some students keen to learn more from someone that moved from theory to practice. What I'm experiencing is that explaining things to other people ...

Re: Overflow confusion

Also, see here .

Just wanted to say thank you because I was having a hard time trying to understand the Overflow thing while having some fun with a customization of the Ben Eater 8 bit computer based on TTL chips ( https://tomnisbet.github.io/nqsap/docs/flags/ linking to your 74181 with V_Flag ...

Re: A little off topic.

Thank you BigEd, now I get the point.

We should be better than that.
I fully agree.

What Ben's done is made a series of videos...
I know Ben's video and myself started Ben's projects (8-bit computer and 6502 computer) and completed them. It was a great school, but - obviously - not enough. I ...

Re: A little off topic.

While many would hope that Ben Eater would disappear quietly...
Hi friends, I read some posts where I perceive kind of a bad mood in regards to Ben Eater, as far as I can understand (I'm a non native-english speaker) it seems to me that there is a sense of disdain.

Is there something wrong he did ...

Re: Division routine help sought!

Thank you friends, now I understand. IM(very)HO the explanation in the book is very hard to understand, at a point that it seems wrong if one is not very knowledgeable with the topic.

The CLC before the ADC is not needed as the carry must already be clear or the BCS would have been executed. That ...

Re: Division routine help sought!

...
My starting point was to look at a simpler case: dividing two 8 bit values, or, in this case, 16-bit divided by 8-bit, yielding an 8-bit value. To my moderate surprise, such a routine is already presented in the 6502 wiki :
LDA TH
LDX #8
ASL TLQ
L1 ROL
BCS L2
CMP B
BCC L3
L2 SBC B ...

Re: Introduce yourself

Hi all! Forgive me for my English, not a native speaker here.

When I was a kid, in the late 70's and early 80's my father-line grandparents had a newsstand and every Sunday we visited them and they gave me for free some comics (Mickey Mouse, AKA "Topolino" in Italy, meaning "small, cute mouse") and ...
