Re: [O.T.] Taking some time off ...
Thank you all very much for the kind words. They are a genuine comfort to me. There's a huge hole in my daily life, and I'm not seeking to fill it; I'm just doing kind and generous deeds for friends and neighbors to help ease my sadness and waiting for the edges to soften a bit with time. The ...

Re: OT: A Generation of Semi-Useless “Workers”
Companies created the problem for themselves by viewing people as "resources" (i.e., something to be consumed and discarded) instead of what they truly are: assets. They compounded their stupidity by not handling employee problems on a singular, case-by-case basis instead of blanketing all employees ...

You've always been one of the brightest stars in this constellation, just as I'm sure she was in yours. Prayers for you, friend.

Re: Whats the most human-friendly instruction set?
The branch delay slot was definitely a black eye on MIPS (see also SPARC and some others).
Not at all...it just requires one to pay attention. Just drop a NOP and replace that later if needed.
In my experience (46+ years) the very best instruction set was the (long-forgotten) Motorola MC88000 ...

I'm just shocked that he went with a PIC18. A '24 is *much* less insane (at the assembly) level the the PIC18.

Re: Rankin/Wozniak Floating-Point Routines Revisited
After completing a project applying the Rankin/Wozniak floating-point routines quite some time ago I finally spent the time to finish polishing, documenting, and blending in the Red Book documentation. Attached is the result.
