1. integrated circuit design software (industry standart)
1.1 which software is used to (re)design CPUs ?
1.2 who is experienced in translating cpu-pictures / schematics into this kind of software:

6510: I'm looking for usable c64 schematics (DIEs / cores)

hello,

I'm not quite sure where to begin, but it certainly would be nice to have schematics of all the DIEs (6510, sid & vicII) - yes, they all have been synthesised for fpgas, but I'd need them for an other reason...

my questions are:
1. which software do the big player use to design & fabric ...

I think the one you link to, which was explicitly for games, did take all that stuff seriously, but you'll notice it was for a commercial effort and the source for the latest versions is not freely available. which/what latest sources do you mean? and if it's not freely available: who owns it ...

thank you, but which ones are 100% binary-compatible with the c64 / 6510?
(including all illegal opcodes & timings - because the fpga-people seem to have trouble with some timings...)

synchron clock rates (cpu, buses & memory)
A contributing factor to the 65xx family's efficiency is the fact that the address and data buses are synchronous to the MPU clock, not ...

thanks for asking there!

what would the dimension be (die etc) if build today?
how much 6502s could be place within 1 cm² ?

is there any way to calculate this with actual waver- production- data?

on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Field-programmable_gate_array at the end of the artikle it says "1.5 GHz fabric speed" - so (you think) that would that be the hightest possible speed a (virtualised) 6502 could run?

I read once (some time ago) that fpga are slower than regular chips (with physical ...

thanks for your answer.

200MHz is fast for a 6502 - but not really fast compared to todays cpus - why aren't there 6502 running @ 3Ghz (3000 mhz) ?
please answer here
